The Lagos State Labour Market Information System
The Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), in collaboration with Ministry of Wealth Creation & Employment, and Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget are implementing a Labour Market Information System for Lagos State. The system is to serve as a one-stop platform to access relevant labour market-related data that informs actionable decisions in Lagos. The LMIS will be:
- An integrated system to harmonize the different pieces of information from various sources about the labour market in Lagos state.
- A simplified access to reliable information for different stakeholders to aid decision-making
- An interactive database that is accessible, up-to-date, and enhances continuous data sharing by users.
- A system capable of aggregating data from diverse sources and providing key labour market insights in real (or near-real) time.
Methodology
Current data and visuals are obtained through extensive survey from relevant stakeholders such as private and public sector employers, students, jobseekers, educational institutions, vocational centres and employment agencies using the instrument of questionnaire. The locations covered comprises all the Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Lagos State. However, LMIS looks to explore voluntarily entered data (including administrative data) from stakeholders to achieve its mission in the long-term.
